Stephen Heckbert This workshop will present concrete ideas for managing expectations for the new faculty member and/or academic coordinator. Among the tips discussed will be: 1) the 100 days entry plan, 2) day planning for dummies – finding and using a calendar, 3) “what do you mean, exams?” – how to get help building exams that work and, 4) managing up – why spending time with your boss is essential for the first-year professor. This workshop will also be useful for the full-time faculty member working with new faculty and will highlight some of the key issues a new professor must understand when communicating with today’s student.
