In the 2008-2013 Strategic Plan, it states: “Algonquin is committed to being a leading Canadian college in the ongoing professional training and development of employees to ensure the best possible learning experience for its students.”
There are five initiatives with regards to professional development listed under Employee Development:
The Centre for Organizational Learning (COL) officially opened in the 2008/09 academic year. It is located in C134, C135, and C102b. Through the delivery of a variety of programs, workshops, and activities, the COL, in partnership with other areas of the College, is dedicated to supporting the professional and personal development of all Algonquin employees.

Rebecca Volk is the manager for the Centre for Organizational Learning. Rebecca has been employed full-time at Algonquin College since 1994 as a faculty member and coordinator in the Law and Security Administration and Police Foundations Programs until 2005 at which time she moved to the professional development area of the College.
