How to Insert an Image in a Blackboard Announcement

The announcements in Blackboard are not very easy to manage, as you can not change their order or insert an image file.
One workaround is to have the Announcement button unavailable (Control Panel/Manage Course Menu), and then create a new content area type of button called Welcome.
Set up the Welcome button as the course entry point from Control Panel/Settings/Course Entry Point. Whenever the students will click on the link to your course, they will be presented with the content of the new Welcome button.
To add an announcement for your course under the Welcome button, just use the Add Item button. The Insert Image button is available there; also, you can change the order of the items.
One of the advantages of setting up this Welcome section is that the announcements older than 7 days won't be hidden automatically when you don't make them permanent.
Note: You might need to refresh the browser or log out of Blackboard and login again in order to see the Welcome button as the new course entry point.
