Not many of you know that a YouTube video can be embedded very easily into any Blackboard content area, in a wiki/blog, or in a discussion board post.

Note: You have to use Internet Explorer to embed your YouTube video. However, both IE and Firefox will display the video without no problem.

1) Go to the Youtube video you want to show your students and look for the "Embed" text box on the right hand side. You should see a code between the <object ></object> tags.

2) Copy the code displayed in the text box by selecting it first and then click on the "Copy" option (from the shortcut or Edit menu).

3) Switch to Blackboard. Go to a Content Area (e.g. Course Documents"), click on "Add an Item", OR select "Discussion Board, wiki or blog from the right drop-down menu and click "Go".

4) In the Visual Text Box editor, click on the HTML button to go to the HTML view (it looks like < > in a content area or is called HTML in a wiki/blog)and paste the code there. For a wiki/blog, click on the "Update" button and then "Submit".

The YouTube video will show in the text box. All you have to do is click inside it to have it play within Blackboard. Since only a link to the video will exist in Blackboard, you can embed as many YouTube videos as you like since this will not effect the course quota.
