Our Algonquin colleagues do wonderful, amazing things everyday that make our work lives easier and more enjoyable. Some receive formal recognition through initiatives such as the annual Staff Awards program. However, perhaps there are times throughout the year when you wish to express gratitude to a fellow employee. Could be someone in your own department, from another department or another campus.
This feature is a place to shine a light on the "behind the scenes" unsung heroes whose special actions are perhaps not as visible.
Joanne Kalman, Finance and Administrative Services: Joanne is a life-line to those in the College needing support with PeopleSoft. A senior financial analyst, whose work days extend long beyond those of most of us, Joanne always has the time to call back, walk folks through screens and generally field any inquiries regarding PeopleSoft.
Joanne is a real gem, always pleasant, client-centred and professional.
Thanks Joanne, for all you do!!
Judy Sayeau, now with Finance and Administrative Services: Judy was the support staff member in Financial, Office and Legal Studies. But she is did so much more than that. Judy was known and liked by students in the area, always there to guide and support them. Judy is a repository of information about the College which she willingly, pleasantly shared with anyone who needed assistance. She is a support staff mentor, providing a welcome and coaching to new support staff.
Always pleasant and willing to help, Judy is wearing a smile whenever I see her.
Mimma Santoro, Physical Resources: Mimma is a member of the Client Support Team for Physical Resources. Among her many roles, Mimma provides administrative support to the Sustainable Algonquin Committee, coordinating the group's notes, meeting dates, events and multiple activities. She is the glue that holds this group together.
Thank you Mimma!
Sam White, AV Support: In the SME Management program, we have had many orientations and events held in Salon A or in the Staff Lounge. Sam has always helped to make them a success by setting up the equipment and being available. As well, most of these events have required him to be there as early as 7 am. I found that he is reliable and I know everything will be set up properly.
In e-classroom support, he has helped me out several times over the years when "things aren't working" before a class. Once a call is made, he is there quickly and always solves the problem.
Kudos to Sam!
