The 82nd Academy Awards:
And, the winner is ……
Did you watch the Academy Awards a few weeks back? Whether you are a sucker for the runway fashions or have a casual interest in knowing who won -- it is hard not to be swept up in the Oscar drama.
How did you feel about the Awards this year? We asked you this question and this is what some of you had to say.
- Teri thought the Avatar storyline was not new - it was something like a cross between “Independence Day” and “Fern Gully”. To win an award, a movie would need to have more than just ‘special effects’.
- Louise said it was a little boring this year, with the highlight being the ‘Toyota’ storyline.
- Kent was happy to see a ‘female’ win “Best Director”.
- Lorraine liked the movie “The Blind Side” and was happy that Sandra Bullock won “Best Actress”.
- Kathy thought there was too much money spent on the Oscars that could be better spent elsewhere.
- Cynthia, as always, enjoyed the fashion, glamour and glitz!!! She also loved Ben Stiller in his Avatar garb.
- David felt that the opening with Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin had much greater potential for some ‘oomph’. Chris agreed with this sentiment. Or, was it vice-versa?
- Anonymous said that she loved it this time as Joan Rivers (and her daughter) were absent. She is in love with Alec Baldwin and she thought Meryl Streep is still a classic.
- Kate thought ‘Monique’ from the movie “Precious” was a great choice for “Best Supporting Actress” as she had the ability to convey the complexity of the role in humanizing the character of the abusive mother.
- Anonymous didn't understand why "The Hurt Locker" won best picture. A good movie? Yes. Oscar worthy? She didn't think so.
