Every now and then I decide to do something healthy. I should know better……
One day I brought my bike to work. It’s the kind of bike that makes your children cringe when they watch you ride it; particularly if you wave and yell, “Hi, Sweetheart, you forgot your lunch” while approaching their high school smoking section. It’s a three speed, blue, has a basket, bell, lots of reflective tape and the chain falls off repeatedly throughout its voyages.
Apparently, when I wore my husband’s golf pants one day, my colleagues thought they would send me a message. When I left for the evening, my bike was wrapped in police tape. At first I thought my children had done it out of revenge but realized they could get rid of the bike at any time. My “spidey” senses let me instinctively hone in on who the practical jokers might be. We joked about it later.
The wonderful thing about working on a campus is that you never have to exact revenge. Just let the jokers carry on. They delighted in their achievement and became more ambitious.
Another colleague frequently drove their motorcycle to school and became the next target. Our esteemed colleagues managed to wrap up the motorcycle covertly and completely. They lay in wait; and continued to lay in wait. The colleague that usually left at 4:00 each day was not leaving. It was getting dark and our colleagues knew that they wouldn’t be able to see the facial expression of the motorcycle owner which is half the fun. Another colleague walked in and said that the person “pranked” had left early that day for an appointment.
Our colleagues had wrapped up the wrong motorcycle with police tape.
No police tape has been seen out of place since (:
