Have you ever been momentarily stumped by a student's question during an office hour visit? You don't have to be a formal academic advisor to get asked for advice! What do you say when a student asks how he can change programs mid-stream? What's the professional response to a diatribe about another teacher or a College policy that a student feels is unfair? How can you put your finger on up-to-date information about peer tutoring, counseling, financial aid or housing without looking like a klutz? We have a workshop designed to help. First, a panel of experienced advisors will present their ideas about how to respond to the hard questions students have asked you. Second, a brand new website designed for advisors and advisor wannabes will be demonstrated. For teachers and advisors, old and new.
